Een van de vele ‘incidenten’: checkpoint bij Nablus
De strijd van het Israëlische leger en de politie tegen de Palestijnse bevolking escaleert. Hieronde een selectie uit het dagelijks nieuws. Het geeft aan dat de gehele Palestijnse bevolking in de Westoever en Oost-Jeruzalem, ongeacht leeftijd en fysieke conditie als ‘vijand’ wordt beschouwd en doelwit is van aanvallen die veel weg hebben van een stadsoorlog. De Israëlische media blijven consequent spreken van ‘terroristen’ als het gaat om omgekomen Palestijnen.
Leger tot Aida vluchtelingenkamp: “We will gas you until you die”
Uitzicht vanuit Aida
Maan News en MEE maken melding van dreigementen via luidsprekers aan de bevolking van het vluchtelingekamp Aida: “Inhabitants of Aida, we are the Israeli occupation forces, if you throw stones we will hit you with gas until you die. The children, the youth, and the old people, all of you – we won’t spare any of you”. Na de arrestatie van Qassan Abu Aker, 25 jaar, klonk de volgende boodschap: “We have arrested one of you, he’s with us now. We took him from his home, and we will kill him while you’re watching as long as you throw stones. (…) We will blind your eyes with gas until you die, your homes, your families, brothers, sons, everyone”.

Twee mannen neergeschoten in Nablus; hulp tegengehouden
‘Two Palestinians were shot in the Nablus district on Friday after allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli border policeman at a military checkpoint, Israel’s army said. Director of the ambulance and emergency unit of the Red Crescent, Abed al-Halim Jafreh, told Ma’an that medics treated the critically injured man at the scene.’

Aanval op ziekenhuis; patiënten en personeelleden gewond
Personeel van het Al-Makassed ziekenhuis vraagt om bescherming.
Gisteren vond een aanval plaats op het Palestijnse Al-Makassed Ziekenhuis in Oost-Jeruzalem: ‘Israeli forces raided theAl-Makassed Hospital in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday, shooting tear gas, stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets during a sit-in protest against recent Israeli actions at the hospital. Dozens of Palestinians, patients and employees of theAl-MakassedHospital were injured with rubber-coated steel bullets and suffered from tear gas inhalation, as Israeli forces raided the hospital “indiscriminately,” firing directly into the hospital compound.’ Een arts werd meegevoerd voor ondervraging.

Herdenking dood Rabin gekoppeld aan ‘Israëlische democratie’
De uitgebreide herdenking van de moord op de vroegere Israëlische premier Rabin in 1995 zal volgens Israëlische kranten in het teken staan van vreedzaam samenleven en democratie: ‘In fight for Israel’s democracy, all sectors of society unite to remember Rabin. We have to learn to live together and to give space to everyone, it’s important for all citizens to come to the square and say ‘we don’t want violence and we want to fight for this state.’ Bill Clinton zal een van de sprekers zijn later deze week.
Hebron nu afgesloten ghetto
De Palestijnse stad Bebron in de bezette Westoever is volledig afgesloten van de buitenwereld. Dit gebeurt om beter razzia’s en andere militaire operaties in en om de stad te kunnen uitvoeren: ‘Israel Security Forces were instructed Friday to seal off certain Palestinian neighborhoods in Hebron in order to better conduct security operations and searches throughout the area.’ Acties van het leger worden voral verwacht na de vrijdagse religieuze bijeenkomsten.
