In tegenstelling tot mededelingen uit Israël, keert Wallström zich niet tegen BDS. Israël en Brazilië blijven strijden over kolonist als ambassadeur.

Margot Wallström: zwaar onder druk; nog recht overeind
Zweden ontkent de juistheid van berichten volgens welke de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Margot Wallström zich tegen de boycot Israël campange zou hebben gekeerd: ‘Sweden is denying claims that Foreign Minister Margot Wallström has promised to publicly denounce the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.’
Israëlische media hadden dat in de afgelopen dagen gemeld na een overleg dat Wallström had met een Israëlische politica: ‘Wallström agreed to publicly express support for Israel’s right to defend itself and Sweden’s opposition to boycotts against Israel.’
Een woordvoerder van de Zweedse minister verwoordde haar standpunt als volgt: ‘Sweden stands by a two-state solution,” the foreign minister’s spokesperson wrote in an email to The Electronic Intifada on Wednesday, in response to an inquiry about the accuracy of the Israeli media reports.’

Israël houdt vast aan kolonist als ambassadeur in Brazilië
De al acht maanden durende strijd over de benoeming en accreditatie van een nieuwe Israëlische ambassadeur in Brazilië houdt aan. Israël houdt vast aan de voorgestelde kolonist Danny Dayan. Hieraan ging een verwarrende gebeurtenis vooraf: ‘The foreign ministry human resources department [van Israël] has published today a tender which is addressed to the Israeli diplomats here at the foreign ministry, for the position of ambassador in Brasilia,” foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon told AFP. But within an hour, the ministry said the advertisment was an “unfortunate bureaucratic mistake” and that “Danny Dayan is still Israel’s appointed ambassador.’
