Leger overvalt ziekenhuis
Superieure spullen, maar nog veel verzet
Een ‘undercover’ eenheid van de Israëlische politie is de spoedeisende hulp afdeling van een Palestijns ziekenhuis in Oost-Jeruzalem binnengedrongen en heeft het medisch dossier meegenomen van een patiënt die daar enkele dagen eerder was behandeld: Israeli forces on Tuesday raided al-Makassed Hospital in the al-Tur neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem and seized the medical file of one of its patients, a staff member told Ma’an.
Er zijn veel klachten over geweld en intimidatie tegen Palestijnse medische hulpverleners: Israeli forces have frequently stormed hospitals to seize medical records and detain patients. At the beginning of the month, undercover forces, dressed as Palestinians, detained a Palestinian patient after storming al-Arabi Hospital in Nablus in the northern West Bank. In mid-October, the Palestine Red Crescent Society also decried the actions of Israeli forces toward its medical staff. The society said that Israeli forces had attacked its ambulance crews and detained Palestinian patients from inside ambulances. It said that the incidents were “a blatant violation” of international humanitarian law.

Engelse academici voor boycot Israël
Bijna 350 Engelse academici hebben vandaag in The Guardian een advertentie geplaatst en daarin getekend voor een verklaring waarin zij, accuse Israel of illegal occupation, human rights violations and resisting a settlement (een vredesregeling). De advertentie komt in reactie op een advertentie vrijdag in The Guardian van verdedigers van Israël, die zich keren tegen een academische en culturele boycot van het land.
Professor Jane Hardy van de Universiteit van Hertfordshire: ‘The commitment does not call for the termination of links with individual colleagues nor the end of dialogue, rather it is a boycott of institutions directly or indirectly complicit in the systematic and illegal occupation of Palestine.’ Dr Rachel Cohen van de Londense City University: ‘(…) it is the responsibility of those of us who have the freedom to act to exercise that freedom in support of our colleagues in Palestinian universities who do not have such freedom.’

VS waaschuwen Israël over ‘intrekken residency permits’
De Amerikaanse regering heeft Israël gewaarschuwd om geen eenzijdige stappen te ondernemen, inzake de verblijfsvergunningen van Palestijnen in Oost-Jeruzalem. Het gaat om ‘een discussie’ die de premier wilde aanzwengelen. Nb: In enkele media was gesuggereerd dat het om alle (250.000) Palestijnen in Oost-Jeruzalem ging (overgenomen door Jaffadok). Het bleek om circa 80.000 Palestijnen te gaan in bepaalde wijken die achter de scheidingsmuur liggen.

Groot-Mufti: Er was nooit een tempel onder Al-Aqsa
Eerste tempel: veel maquettes, geen aanwijzingen. Tweede tempel: Ja, maar waar precies?
De geestelijk leider van de Palestijnse moslims Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein heeft in een interview gezegd dat er nooit een joodse tempel op het Al-Aqsa complex heeft gestaan. Israëlische joden geloven dat er zowel een eerste als een tweede tempel op deze plek is geweest. De eerste gebouwd door koning David, de tweede in de zesde eeuw. Deze zogenaamde ‘tempel denial’ (tempel ontkenning) wordt in zionistische kring hoog opgenomen en vergeleken met ‘holocaust denial’. De directeur van de ‘Palestinian Media Watch’: The revision of history by the mufti is not new and is fundamental to PA ideology The PA’s denial of Jewish history in the Land of Israel is the basis for the PA’s denial of Israel’s right to exist.

De New York Times laat op 09/10/2015 enkele wetenschappers aan het woord: ‘The sources for the first temple are solely biblical, and no substantial archaeological remains have been verified,’ said Wendy Pullan. ‘The most direct physical evidence of the temple’s existence on the site is the Western Wall, an outer wall spared by Roman destruction‘, zegt Jane Cahill van het David Archaeological Project. Kent Bramlett (VS) zegt dat er zeer sterke aanwijzingen zijn voor de tweede tempel als historisch gegeven, maar, ‘I think one has to be careful about saying it stood where the Dome of the Rock stood.’
Gecoördineerde actie Israëlische joden tegen Facebook
Zo’n 20.000 joodse Israëlis hebben bij een Amerikaanse rechter een klacht ingediend tegen facebook. Zij eisen dat facebook ‘opruiiende’ posts verwijderd van Palestijnen: Some 20,000 Israelis have sued Internet giant Facebook in New York alleging the social media platform is disregarding incitement and calls to murder Jews being posted by Palestinians, Shurat Hadin said on Monday.
