Israël: Europa en Israël strijden voor dezelfde waarden. Frankrijk toch niet ‘in oorlog’. Hezbollah wel/geen terroristische organisatie.
Netanyahoe: “Wij en de Europese democratieën tegen geweld islam”
Minister van Defensie Yaalon gaf zaterdag al de toon aan: “France and Israel share the values of freedom and we are determined to fight this Jihadist terrorism with our combined might.” Premier Netanyahoe voegde er dit weekend in dezelfde toonaard – Europa en wij zijn de beschaving en worden bedreigd door moslimterrorisme – aan toe: “As I’ve said for many years, militant Islamic terrorism attacks our societies because it wants to destroy our civilization and our values.” Tijdens een bijeenkomst van zijn Likoed partij zeinde premier: “(…) that the terrorists who kill Israelis and those who target Parisians have the same goals”.
Minister van Cultuur Miri Regev werd concreter en gebruikte de aanslagen voor de lobby om Hamas te ‘behouden’ als terroristische organnisatie en, ‘to criticize the European Union for removing Hamas from its list of terrorist organizations in December last year, while she praised France for fighting the decision. (…) Israel is not the problem in the Middle East, it is the solution‘. Dit weekend hebben een reeks Palestijnse leiders en de leider van het Libanese Hezbollah de aanslagen scherp veroordeeld.

Hollande vermijdt ‘Bushtaal’; Frankrijk niet ‘in oorlog’
Regering moet iets laten zien: Franse bommenwerpers boven Rakka, het hoofdkwartier van ISIS.
De Franse president Hollande heeft niet formeel ‘de oorlog verklaard aan ISIS’, zoals de Amerikaanse president dat in september 2001 deed naar Al-Qaida na de aanslagen in New York en Washington. Frankrijk heeft ook niet artikel 5 van het Navo-verdrag ingeroepen. Dat artikel verplicht alle andere Navo-leden een land militaire bijstand te verlenen als dat land zich bedreigd voelt. Deze oorlogssymboliek, die in 2001 werd omgezet in Navobeleid leidde tot de oorlog in Afghanistan (2001) en vergemakkelijkte de oorlog in Irak (2003). De Franse terughoudendheid wat dit betreft leidt tot teleurgestelde reacties in sommige Israëlische kranten (Jpost vandaag): ‘The lack of a declaration of war from Hollande and NATO is a window into the courtyard of the EU’s gingerly (behoedzame) foreign policy posture.‘
Rusland: Hezbollah is geen terroristische groep
De Russische plaatsvervangend minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Bogdanov keerde zich tegen de lobby om Hezbollah tot terroristische organisatie te verklaren: “We maintain contacts and relations with them because we do not consider them a terrorist organization. They have never committed any terrorist acts on Russian territory. Hezbollah was elected by people to the Lebanese parliament. There are cabinet members and ministers who are from Hezbollah in Lebanon. It’s a legitimate socio-political force.”
Israël en de meeste Amerikaanse politici willen dat de EU zowel de politieke als de militaire organisatie van Hezbollah als ‘terroristisch’ aanmerkt. Dit zou de spanningen in Libanon opvoeren en het bereiken van een compromis in Syrië bemoeilijken. President Obama heeft na een kort gesprek met President Poetin in Turkije een verklaring laten afleggen die wijst op aanzienlijke toenadering ten aanzien van de Syrische burgeroorlog: “President Obama and President Putin agreed on the need for a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political transition, which would be proceeded by UN-mediated negotiations between the Syrian opposition and regime as well a ceasefire,” the official said. Obama welcomed efforts by all countries in confronting Islamic State, noting the importance of Russia’s military efforts in Syria focusing on the group.”
Zweedse minister van BZ: terrorisme heeft ook te maken met M.-O. conflict
De Israëlische regering heeft geprotesteerd tegen een opmerking van de Zweedse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken. Op de vraag: “How worried are you about the radicalization of young people in Sweden who are fighting for ISIS?”, heeft zij geantwoord: “Obviously, we have reason to be worried, not just in Sweden but across the world — because there are so many that are being radicalized. Here, once again, we are brought back to situations like the one in the Middle East, where not least, the Palestinians see that there is not a future”.

Palestina’s ‘nationale dichter’ Mahmoud Darwish, 1941 – 2008
In Ramallah in de bezette Westoever is opgeroepen tot twee dagen van protest. In de eerste plaats de viering vandaag van, ‘the 27th anniversary of the signing of the symbolic Palestinian Declaration Independence, written by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish in 1988‘. Verder gaat het om vrijdag 20 november: ‘(…) a day for “field escalations” has been called to take place in areas of the occupied Palestinian Territory that have seen frequent upheaval and clashes.‘
