Etikettering: onopvallende stap van EU, maar bedreigend voor Israël
Het Israëlische kabinet vergadert zondag over een voorstel om tegenmaatregelen te nemen tegen het recente besluit van de EU om de herkomst van producten uit de bezette gebieden aan te geven: het ‘etiketteren’. Het EU-besluit zal naar verwachting niet door alle lidstaten tegelijk worden uitgevoerd. Het wetsvoorstel dat het kabinet zondag bespreekt zal indien het wordt overgenomen, steeds die landen ‘op de korrel’ nemen die overgaan tot invoering van de etiketteringsplicht: ‘Government ministers to vote Sunday on whether to support a bill that would mandate labeling products from countries that label products from Israeli settlements.’

PA protesteert tegen moordpartij nabij Hebron
De Palestijnse Autoriteit (PA) heeft geprotesteerd tegen de standrechtelijke executie van vier teenagers in de buurt van Hebron: ‘The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday said the deaths of four Palestinian teens the day before marked a “dangerous escalation” in the current political situation. The ministry in a statement condemned the “continuous series of crimes and field executions by Netanyahu’s government against Palestinians,” referring to the killing of four Palestinians on Thursday as a “massacre.”‘
Veiligheidssamenwerking PA-Israël ‘uitzonderlijk goed’
(Ook) Maan News meldt echter tegelijkertijd dat de PA met het Israëlische leger en de politie blijft samenwerken: ‘PA Israeli security officials earlier this week praised the Palestinian Authority for decrease in “incitement” against Israel, which according to Israeli daily Haaretz included accusing Israeli forces of extrajudicial execution. (…) Palestinian leadership has remained markedly silent in the wake of ongoing violence, with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas yet to condemn attacks carried out by individual Palestinians. Israeli security officials meanwhile this week reported that security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and Israeli forces has been “exceptionally good” in recent weeks, with the PA reportedly cracking down on activity by Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.’

Frustratie onder Palestijnen over ‘collaboratie’ door PA
Maan News bericht over frustratie onder Palestijnen over de collaboratie met Israël: ‘Many Palestinians have grown increasingly frustrated with the Palestinian leadership in recent months, in particular over its relative quiet since a wave of unrest swept the occupied Palestinian territory at the beginning of October. Palestinian security forces assaulted journalists attempting to cover the PA’s prevention of demonstrators, leading Palestinian media rights group MADA to launch an investigation, demanding the PA hold security forces accountable for press violations.’

Griekse maatschappij biedt excuses aan voor toegeven aan racisme
De Griekse luchtvaartmaatschappij Aegean heeft zijn excuses aangeboden voor een racistisch incident dat zich enkele dagen geleden voordeed in een vliegtuig van de maatschappij. Israëlische Palestijnen werden toe onder druk van joodse Israëliërs uit het vliegtuig verwijderd.
