Premier Israël speculeert op instorting PA
Israëlische legeracties in gebied onder Palestijnse beheer maakt PA tot een lege huls
Premier Netanyahoe heeft volgens Haaretz van vandaag zijn kabinet gewaarschuwd voor de aanstaande ineenstorting van de Palestijnse Autoriteit (PA): ‘Netanyahu said during a meeting of Israel’s diplomatic-security cabinet late Monday that Israel ought to prepare for the PA’s collapse. “We must prevent the Palestinian Authority from collapsing if possible, but at the same time, we must prepare in case it happens.”‘
De woordvoerder van de PA reageerde fel, volgens Maan News. Netanyahoe zou krokodillentranen huilen over de ondergang van de PA en tegelijkertijd die ondergang bevorderen: ‘The Israeli army on a daily basis violates the PA-controlled territories, continues to besiege and cripple the Gaza Strip, and practices all types of collective punishment against the Palestinian people to weaken those supporting peace on the Palestinian side.’
John Kerry had eerder gewaarschuwd dat Israël het risico liep dat de PA ten onder zou gaan en de retorische vraag gesteld: ‘If there is a risk the the PA could collapse, and it is in Israel’s interests for it to in fact survive, should more therefore not be done to help sustain it?‘ Ook had Kerry volgens Haaretz openlijk de mogelijkheid genoemd dat Isra¨del bezig is de PA onderuit te halen: ‘Last month, US Secretary of State John Kerry warned that key Israeli policies were “imperiling” the viability of a two-state solution by pushing the PA toward collapse.’

Netanyahoe maakt Israëlische Palestijnen verdacht
De burgemeester van Tel Aviv heeft premier Netanyahoe ervan beschuldigd zijn onvermogen om “Israëlische burgers te beschermen tegen terreur” te camoufleren door een aanval op de Israëlische Palestijnen. Dat de Palestijnse dader van de schietpartij vorige week in Tel Aviv nog niet is opgespoord brengt de premier in ‘verklaringsnood’ naar zijn joodse achterban. De joodse achterban van de burgemeester eist dat de dader gepakt wordt.
Dit weekend deed de premier de volgende uitspraken: ‘There are many among Muslim Israeli citizens who have come out against the violence and are crying out for full law enforcement in their towns. At the same time, we all know that there is wild incitement by radical Islam against the State of Israel in the Arab sector. Incitement in mosques, in the education system, on social media.’ Jerusalem Post: ‘The prime minister said he is unwilling to have a state within a state in Israel, in which some citizens live in “enclaves with no law enforcement, with Islamist incitement and an abundance of illegal weapons that are often fired at happy events, weddings, and during endless criminal incidents. That time is over“.’
Saoedie-Arabië lijkt Syrië-overleg niet te saboteren
