Israëlische soldaten ontvoeren patiënt en doden bezoek
Weer aanval op een ziekenhuis. Hebron: bezoeker dood, patiënt ontvoerd.
Ongeveer twintig vermomde Israëlische militairen en/of politieagenten zijn vannacht het ziekenhuis van Hebron binnengedrongen. Op de afdeling chirurgie knevelden zij een bezoeker, doden een tweede bezoeker en ontvoerden de 20-jarige Azzam Ezzat Shalaldah van zijn bed. De ontvoerde patiënt lag in het ziekenhuis nadat hij vorige maand was neergeschoten door een joodse kolonist. Bij wraakacties over en weer zijn sinds 1 oktober tachtig Palestijnen en tien joden gedood.

EU neemt etikettenbesluit
Beetje zure afdronk
De Europese Commissie heeft het verwachte besluit over de etikettering van Israëlische producten en producten uit de nederzettingen genomen: ‘European retailers must put the phrase “product from … Israeli settlement” or equivalent on wine, farm produce, or cosmetics from the occupied territories, the EU Commission has said. Its guidelines, published on Wednesday (11 November), say labels on other items, such as processed food and most industrial goods, are voluntary. But if shops choose to inform buyers where such items come from, they “must be correct and not misleading,” and cannot, for instance, say “made in Israel. The guidelines say they’re meant to help European consumers “take an informed transactional decision.’

PLO: Belangrijke stap naar totale boycot nederzettingen
De secretaris-generaal van de Palestijnse Bevrijdings Organisatie (PLO) Saeb Erekat verwelkomt het besluit van de Europese Commissie als een, “significant move toward a total boycott of Israeli settlements, which are built illegally on occupied Palestinian lands. The EU has once again moved from the level of statements to taking concrete policy decisions. We believe that more actions are necessary to hold Israel accountable for the crimes it continues to commit against the land and people of Palestine.”

Het EJC reageert op het besluit van de Europese Commissie met onder andere de volgende stellingnamen: (Moshe Kantor, voorzitter) “After studying the issue deeply we have concluded that there are no comparable guidelines for any other territorial dispute or what are perceived as occupations anywhere else in the world. In fact, in many other disputes the EU actually supports or profits from an internationally designated occupation, so there is certainly a very strong element of double-standards applied to the Jewish State. (…) The EU has been consistently asked why Israel is made a special case without any other precedent. The EU has refused to answer even though we see it signing agreements to profit from and contributing to Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara and Turkey’s occupation of Northern Cyprus.”
Kerry: Anti-zionisme is racisme
De Amerikaanse regering gaat door met zich vast te leggen op het gelijk stellen van principiële kritiek op Israël, met racisme en anti-semitisme. John Kerry, wiens mentale volwassenheid door de nieuwe woordvoerder van premier Netanyahoe bij een andere gelegenheid in twijfel werd getrokken, in de VN: ‘Commemorating forty years since Chaim Herzog, then Israel’s ambassador to the UN, rebuked the body’s general assembly for its efforts to equate Zionism with racism, Kerry effectively equated anti-Zionism with racism– a scourge, he said, that remains as “abhorrent” and widespread in 2015 as it was in 1975.’
