Israëlisch-Palestijns Knessetlid spreekt in Jordanië hard oordeel uit, terwijl Palestijnse Autoriteit zwalkt. Fataal E1-plan gaat door.
Israëlisch-Palestijnse leider: 2-staten gepasseerd station
Ahmed Tibi: zet Israëlische Palestijnen op de kaart
Ahmed Tibi, Israëlisch-Palestijns Knessethlid en leider van de combinatie van Palestijnse partijen (de Joint List), heeft in een toespraak tot de Jordaanse regeringsinstantie die zich bezig houdt met Palestijnse zaken, enkele opvallende uitspraken gedaan. In de eerste plaats zei hij dat de kans op een twee-statenoplossing zo goed als nul is zolang deze Israëlische regering aan de macht is. Tibi: ‘All Palestinian government ministers basically support a two-state solution. On the other side, there is no Israeli minister that supports the creation of a Palestinian state and therefore the chance of a two-state solution in the Netanyahu government are next to nothing.’
Tibi zei verder dat, ‘the Palestinian Authority (PA) has no authority.’ Hij zei tegen de Jordaniërs, that the PA has stopped controlling the areas under its control and claimed that the IDF has access to every corner. ‘The ones in control are the coordinator of government activities in the territories COGAT [het civiele bestuur dat door het Israëlische leger wordt uitgeoefend] and the ‘military government.’ Het optreden van Tibi bevestigd een ontwikkeling die al langer gaande is in Israël, namelijk dat de Israëlische Palestijnen zich meer betrokken voelen bij de bezetting en de zwakte van de PA ook als hun probleem beginnen te zien.
Fataal E1-plan gaat door

Het al jaren zeer omstreden plan om ten oosten van Jeruzalem een nieuwe stad te bouwen voor joden lijkt weer een stap dichterbij te komen: Israeli watchdog Peace Now reported Sunday that the Ministry of Housing began ‘quietly’ planning for 8372 housing units in the E1 area in November 2014, hiring architects to work on many of the plans that had been cancelled. Realisatie van ‘E1’ zou het al versplinterde gebied dat nog over is voor een Palestijnse staat, in tweeën delen en een Palestijnse staat feitelijk onmogelijk maken: The revelations are likely to spark controversy, as construction in E1 would effectively split the West Bank into separate northern and southern parts, making the creation of a contiguous Palestinian state nearly impossible. Ook president Obama heeft zich in het recente verleden verzet tegen het plan, dat nu tussen Kerst en Nieuwjaar in het nieuws komt.

Nieuw “vredesoverleg”? Erekat ontkent.
Als E1 doorgaat is PA minder relevant.
Jerusalem Post meldt vandaag dat de leiding van de PA deze week bijeen komt om zich te beraden over voortzetting van de samenwerking met Israël: The Palestinian Authority leadership is expected to meet in the coming days to discuss the future of its relations with Israel, PLO Secretary-General Saeb Erekat said on Sunday. Erekat said that he expected the meeting to take place before the end of this year to discuss previous decisions by PLO and Fatah bodies to suspend relations with Israel. ‘There will be decisive and important decisions regarding all forms of ties with the occupation, including security and political relations,’ he said. Het bericht wijst erop dat de strijd binnen de PLO over dit punt die al zeker een jaar gaande is, niet is geluwd. Het bericht is mogelijk naar buiten gebracht om de aandacht af te leiden van iets anders: Erekat confirmed that he had met in recent months with then-interior minister Silvan Shalom, who was entrusted with maintaining contacts with the PA leadership. Two meetings took place last July and August.
Maan News brengt ook vandaag grotendeels hetzelfde bericht: ‘The statement from the PLO official came shortly after the Israeli Broadcasting Authority published on its Reshet Bet website that Erekat had proposed secret negotiations, but that Israel had turned down the offer.’ Dat laatste wordt door de woordvoerder van premier Netanyahoe officieel ontkend. Israël oefent momenteel druk uit op het Amerikaanse Congres, om te verklaren dat het de Palestijnen zijn die hervatting van de onderhandelingen weigeren.

Netanyahoe: verschil Arabische en joodse terreur
Premier Netanyahoe heeft gereageerd op de aandacht die in Israëlische media is ontstaan over enkele gevallen van extreem geweld door joden tegen Palestijnen en verheerlijking daarvan: Israeli police earlier this week opened an investigation into the wedding of two right-wing Israelis after a video showed attendees dancing and singing songs about revenge while waving knives and guns in the air. De premier: Here we condemn and they [the Palestinians] praise. Ook zei hij dat joodse terreur maar zelden voorkwam terwijl Palestijnse terreur frekwent plaatsvond.
