Verdere actie tegen fundamentalistische jongeren
Leiders Shas partij. De “lunatics” worden aangepakt; politici blijven op de achtergrond.
De afdeling “Nationalist Crimes” van de politie is vannacht verschillende wilde nederzettingen (“outposts”) binnengevallen op zoek naar jonge fundamentalisten. Negen van hen zouden zijn gearresteerd, maar verschillende zijn volgens informatie van de New York Times na enkele uren al weer vrijgelaten. Het lijkt erop dat de Israëlische autoriteiten op deze mensen het middel van administratieve detentie gaan toepassen. De mensenrechtenorganisatie B’tselem is echter sceptisch. Het optreden van de politie zou in de nasleep van de gruwelijke moord op Palestijnen in Duma, “meant primarily to create a false show of firm action in order to decrease public criticism.”
Administratieve detentie voor twee joodse fundamentalisten
Administratieve hechtenis; heren maken zich weinig zorgen.
Twee van terrorisme verdachten joodse fundamentalisten worden in administratieve detentie vastgehouden voor de duur van zes maanden. Dit betekent dat er geen aanklacht is ingediend. “(…) Defense Ministry said Ya’alon (minister van Defensie) had signed the order at the recommendation of the Shin Beit security service and that it was effective immediately. (…) Ya’alon had been expected to approve more orders enabling security forces to hold far-right activists without trial.”

Sport en politiek: Hebron-Gaza verhinderd
Een voetbalwedstrijd tussen teams uit de Gazastrook en de Westoever (Hebron) is door Israëlische autoriteiten verhinderd. De wedstrijd werd door de Palestijnse gemeenschap van grote symbolische betekenis geacht. De meerderheid van de Palestijnen willen dat de politici van Hamas en Fatah de tegenstellingen overbruggen een één effectieve regering vormen. Israël is er veel aan gelegen om de verdeeldheid in stand te houden.
Het Palestijnse Maan News: “West Bank and Gaza Strip teams play in separate leagues, in which Al-Ahli (club Hebron) and Shejaiya (club Gaza) emerged as champions. The winner will be eligible to represent Palestine in international competitions. But the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are separated by 60 kilometers (40 miles) of Israeli territory and Gazans are subject to severe border restrictions. Israel asked four of Shejaiya’s 37-member delegation to submit to security interviews as a condition of leaving the territory. The Palestinian Football Association, chaired by former West Bank security chief Jibril Rajoub, and Shejaiya club categorically refused. “An athlete can enter and exit Gaza without security interference, according to the rules of FIFA,” he said, referring to football’s world governing body”.”

Israëlische zakenwereld coördineert anti-BDS
Het overkoepelende voorzitterschap van de Israëlische organisaties van bedrijven heeft een “hot line” ingesteld om snel en genuanceerd te kunnen reageren op boycotacties. Shraga Brosh, voorzitter van het presidium van de Israel Business Organizations: “The new line will enable us to provide individual and discreet solutions for Israeli businesses exposed to boycotts and attempted boycotts, (…) BDS is not a uniform phenomenon; it is expressed differently in each country. When complaints or reports of such cases are received, we will address the situation specifically (…) In recent weeks, things have gotten out of hand. The matter has been put on the public agenda, and we therefore decided to provide a proper professional address for the business community that is liable to suffer from these and other initiatives relating to a boycott of products or activity. (…) Unfortunately, these attempts at a boycott have worsened and expanded recently, and are not expected to go away in the near future”.
